The face value on life insurance policies vary from person to person.  There are essentially two factors that come into play when purchasing life insurance. The first is the amount of money it would it take for a family to maintain the standard of living to which they currently have and how much a family can afford to pay for insurance premiums each month.

A life insurance policy should depend on the amount of money a family will need to maintain the same standard of living. This means that there is a certain monthly or yearly income needed to pay for minor and major expenses such a mortgage, cars and education. Life insurance needs alter with each situation. If there are young children in the home, it is safe to assume that they will need funds to support them until they are able to pay their own way.  The approximate costs of college education must be calculated and added to their other overall expenses, such as for clothing, food, shelter and other necessities must.Additionally, outstanding debts, such as mortgage and car loans must be included.  Finally, calculate any additional expenses needed to maintain the same standard of life.

Buy Term Life Insurance And Invest The Rest

Term life insurance generally provides a death benefit and does not accumulate cash value. Some people believe that it is more cost effective to get a term life policy and put the extra money that whole life would cost into a separate investment. Their slogan is “buy term and invest the rest”. That is over simplifying the subject. For example, invest in what? And how exactly does a particular whole life policy’s features compare to a term plus investment plan? The truth is that there is no single insurance product that is always best for every person and situation.

As a Houston insurance agent my suggestion is to compare whole and term products if you want life insurance. A good agent should be able to show you rates, and discuss the features and benefits, of different policies. My belief is that my job is to show customers what is available and present options (not to try and sell a customer on any particular product).

Some situations that could favor a term policy include:

Car Insurance Policies That Fit Your Needs

Because it is the law to have car insurance, it is important to purchase a policy that fits your need. Some policies can be expensive as it may include coverage that you do not need. There are various types of insurance policies that you should be aware of before you make your selection. It may seem a time consuming task to figure out what the various policies include. To make your insurance policy selection easier, below are a few tips on how to find car insurance policies that meets your needs.

1. It is important to understand the different types of insurance coverage available. Liability insurance will cover you in the event that you cause a vehicle accident and cause an accident. It provides coverage if another person sustains property damage and physical injury. Most states and provinces mandate set minimum liability insurance. Collision coverage is insurance that will cover you if your own vehicle is damaged and needs repair as the result of a vehicle accident. It is recommended for those who have valuable cars. Comprehensive coverage is insurance coverage that covers non-collision damage such as vandalism, theft, or damage from a storm. There is also Uninsured Motorist Coverage. This is coverage that covers you for damage an uninsured driver has when driving your car.

Things You Need To Know About Car Insurance

If you are like most people, you probably never learned much about car insurance. When you got your license, most likely Dad and Mom just added you on to their insurance policy. Then when it came time for you to buy your own insurance, you probably used the same company that your parents did. Now that most people have quick access to internet, they are learning that the more they know about automobile insurance, the better coverage they can purchase and the more they can save.

It probably wouldn’t hurt you to opt for at least a $500 deductible on their insurance policy. This would lower your premium considerably. Take the savings you gain from the higher deductible and use it to increase your liability insurance. This will give you greater protection in case of a law suit in the future. Save up the amount of your deductible and put it in a savings account.
