Automobile Insurance: Did You Overlook The Following Tips?
You don’t need to do great things in most cases in order to reduce your rates. It’s generally small things that result in huge savings. Here are several tips that will help you achieve that goal…
1. Some insurers will give you a discount if you are part of an auto club. Even if this discount is negligible it’s still some savings for you.
2. Have you checked with the associations you belong to if they have discounts from any insurer? They stand to get many prospects easily if an association decides to adopt them as their insurer. Bearing this in mind, you’ll do well to see if there are good discounts with any association you’re part of.
3. Does you child not use the car for a considerable period of time? Then you can get a discount for this. If your child is in college then you should discuss with your agent about the possibility of getting this discount. I must point out, though, that some insurers do not give this discount.
4. The difference in the cost of insuring comparably priced vehicles could be massive. So have this at the back of your mind when you are ready to shop for your next car. Avoid any car that has a high theft rate and/or a bad crash rating.|Two things that will make you pay more for auto insurance are a car’s crash rating and theft rate.
Also, cars that generally cost more to repair also cost more to insure. I don’t know about you; but it is a smart thing to buy a comparable car that is less expensive to insure.
5. A car with a high safety rating will attract cheaper rates than one with a poor rating all other things being equal. Safety features should be given top consideration when shopping for a new car. Such features attract a good discount. Your agent can give you a list of features that will get you a discount with your insurance provider.
6. Joining a car pool will help you get a more affordable rate. Using a carpool helps you cut down your mileage which is an important parameter for working out your premium. You’ll pay less in direct proportion to how much using a carpool lowers your mileage.
7. Do you know if an insurer has a group discount for the company you work in? If you’ve not asked, do. Group discounts are given by insurance companies as an incentive to members of an association to buy policies from them. That would save them on customer acquisition.
8. You will save much if you will shop around and do proper comparison. The the difference in quotes received per request could be as wide as $1,000 for a particular person. While this is a good thing, it’s important that you don’t get carried away. It’s not usually that straightforward if you’re after the best price/value.
The lowest quote may not represent you the best price/value. Notwithstanding that each of the quotes offered will certainly give you the same basic coverage, there may be a number of differences in the details of each insurer’s coverage. This makes it crucial that you find out if there aren’t any exclusions you won’t like.
Don’t forget to treat these no-obligation quotes just that way. Don’t feel obliged to pay until you’ve had all your questions answered to your satisfaction. You will saved from rude shocks down the road if you do this.
