Do you need a dedicated laptop insurance policy?
Laptop Computers can be used in many different ways. But, with their adaptability comes this increased risk of damage. Many people take their expensive laptop computers away on holiday with them; but a word of caution, if you take your laptop on holiday or away on business there is a very real chance of them becoming damaged.
Well, should people actually consider implementing laptop insurance, when they have home insurance running that actually provides you with appropriate laptop insurance cover? I would suggest yes, as the home cover often has with it an extremely high excess fee that you would need to pay should you have to make a claim. There are many computer insurance providers around, so take some time to consider each one carefeully prior to the implementation of your policy.
With the value of laptops dropping, although by claiming through the household insurance policy would enable you to claim for a new laptop, finding a cheaper, specialist laptop insurance provider would certainly work out cheaper in the long run. You pay a small monthly fee, and indeed the excess fee you would have to pay would be much smaller.
Ok, what is the risk to computers? If you took your laptop on holiday I would suggest the main risk would be accidental damage. Even transporting the laptop to the train station would be deemed a risk, so extreme caution would need to be suggested. Appropriate packaging for the computer would certainly be a must.

Well, is it worth the investment of your hard earned money on dedicated computer insurance? I would suggest that if you have spent a lot on the cost of your laptop, and you spend time travelling or on business with it, then you should certainly consider it accordingly. Check online and ascertain what coverage is out there and indeed, check your current home insurance policy to see if it offers you appropriate protection first.
